sensitive

as i walked into my bedroom i saw a megalithic black and yellow butterfly on the wall next to my computer screen. i put down my plate of portobello mushroom sandwich and asked my roommate to take a look at it too. it’s wings were satiny black-edged with minuscule hairs along it’s dark body. the bright yellow pools of design covered it’s wings in marvelous ways. i took out my camera and video taped the bugger as she was quietly coaxed onto the back of my hand and took her out the back door. she gripped the ends of my two middle fingers like a scared cat stuck high in the top of the tree. i let the branches of my hand down to the sill of my window and she finally gave up her grip as i had to push her even more. i put my camera into macro, still, mode with the flash and laid a quarter next to her behemoth span and snapped a shot. she immediately clapped her wings tight in protest and has stood that way, rigid. i hope i didn’t blind her. i do know butterflies are sensitive
